James Donald-Adkin - Founder and CEO

Educated at King Edward VI Camphill School, Birmingham and Manchester University, James joined the Graduate Management Development Programme at Barclays Plc in 1988. He was Head of Credit at Barclays Private Bank from 1995-98 and a Private Banker, Middle East, 1998-2000 where he handled major client relationships for Saudi Arabian and Bahraini clients. 

 

He was headhunted to become Vice-President, Citi Private Bank, Middle East, 2000-02 and he developed client relationships in the region and in 2003 founded Amico Wealth Management and has led Amico since then into becoming a well-respected international brand in the credit finance and equity raising sectors that has delivered consistently excellent results on behalf of clients.  

 

In 2012 Amico Private Office was launched to build on the success of the past nine years of business development by expanding the range of services available to Amico’s diverse international client base. 

 

He is a former Guest Lecturer on the MA Programme in Art Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art and is a former member of the Advisory Committee of the Cornforth Memorial Lectures at Christie’s, London.

 

Outside business his main interests are politics and classical music. He was a Wandsworth Borough Councillor from 1990-98 which included serving as Conservative Chief Whip from 1991-92 and Chairman of the Conservative Group from 1994-97. He was for many years a member of the Housing, Planning and Policy and Finance Committees and was Chairman of the Property Committee from 1992-93 during which time he set up the Property Audit Team to manage more effectively the Council's £2bn property portfolio; put out to private tender the Borough Valuers Service and encouraged property sales via the Right to Buy Scheme and Share Ownership structures. From 1990-1992 he was a member of the Board of the Battersea Churches Housing Trust. He was Chairman of the City Conservative Forum from 1993-96

 

He was a Trustee of the Bach Choir from 2010-12 and has been a member of the Finance Committee of the Philharmonia Orchestra since 2010.

 

He is also a Non-Executive Director and Senior Advisor to a number of international companies. 

Oliver Pyle - Managing Director

 

Oliver is an entrepreneurial finance professional bringing over 20 years of banking  and investment structuring expertise to Amico Private Office. Oliver’s client-centric approach and his creative flair for developing opportunities and solutions enable Amico to deliver exceptional service to its clients and partners.

 

Having worked with British bank Barclays for ten years, including Private Banker for North America and then as Head of Structured Products at Danish investment bank, Saxo Bank, Oliver has an exceptional track record of building individual and institutional relationships, negotiating and closing deals at the very highest level. Through his own company Oliver has built investment products for a bank in one of the world’s premier offshore centres, and arranged the successful financing of real estate and commercial transactions.

David Kim - Associate Director

David Kim joined Amico Private Office in January 2012 and was responsible for the structuring and development of Art Advisory Service within the firm. He has a great breadth of experience in the art world and financial industry, and continues to provide tailored art financing solutions to a wide range of international collectors and institutions.

 

He has an extensive research practice primarily in Impressionist and Modern paintings, in which he delivers an in-depth academic and market analysis to our clients. His art advisory practice includes, but is not limited to, art lending and investment consultation, private sales, valuation, auction representation and authentication research. Mr Kim’s detailed knowledge of the art market and wide global experience developed close strategic relationships with an international audience of established art collectors and professional experts in the field.

 

Mr Kim gained a MA Honours in Economics from University of St Andrews. He subsequently read Fine and Decorative Arts at Christie’s Education, London and was awarded a MA in Art Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London.

 

He is a keen collector of wine, particularly from Bordeaux and Bourgogne, and a passionate cook at home.
